Aquasonic Algicide is a broad spectrum algae treatment is designed to help control and prevent unwanted algae growth in freshwater aquariums. Excess nutrients from fish food, fish waste, and strong lighting can encourage algae to spread rapidly, leading to cloudy water, clogged filtration, and an unbalanced aquarium environment.
Formulated with Simazine, this treatment works to target common nuisance algae such as black beard algae (BBA), string/hair algae, and blanket algae. When used at the recommended dosage, Algicide helps restore clarity and maintain a cleaner, healthier aquarium while remaining suitable for freshwater fish and plants.
Regular aquarium maintenance, including partial water changes and managing light levels, can further assist in reducing algae growth and improving overall water quality. When combined with good aquarium management practices, Aquasonic Algicide can help bring your tank back to a clear and balanced condition.

Directions for use:
- Shake bottle vigorously before each application
- Add medication to an area of flowing water for even distribution
- Maintain aeration and filtration during treatment

- If algae persists, consider reducing aquarium lighting and increasing the frequency of partial water changes

Algae outbreaks are almost always driven by an imbalance of light, nutrients, and plant competition. Keeping your aquarium out of direct sunlight, limiting your lighting to 6 to 8 hours per day, and not overfeeding are the three most effective steps you can take. If your light doesn't include a built-in timer, a simple plug-in timer from most hardware stores will automate your light schedule hands-free. Adding more live plants also helps significantly, as healthy plants compete directly with algae for nutrients and light. Check that any plants you choose are compatible with the fish you keep before adding them.
