Selecting the correct size for your glass thickness is important. A magnet that's too weak for your glass thickness won't maintain contact and will slide or fall off during use.

The floating inner magnet is the feature that matters most here. A magnet cleaner that sinks when the pieces separate can scratch your substrate, damage plants, and stress livestock. The floating design eliminates that risk. For best results, clean your glass before a water change so any dislodged algae gets siphoned out along with the water change.
Always check the scrubbing pad is free of trapped substrate particles before use, a grain of sand or gravel caught between the pad and the glass is the most common cause of scratches. Rinse both components in clean water after each use. Replace the scrubbing pad when it shows signs of wear to maintain cleaning performance and avoid scratching.
