Livebearers like guppies, platies, and mollies give birth to live fry rather than laying eggs, but that doesn't make the fry any less vulnerable. Adult fish, including the mother herself, will readily eat newborn fry if they're not separated quickly. A breeding box gives you a controlled, safe environment to isolate a pregnant female before she gives birth, protecting the fry from the moment they're born.
The Large Livebearer Breeding Box hangs inside your existing tank, which means the water inside the box is the same temperature and chemistry as your main tank, no separate heater or filter required. The transparent acrylic construction lets you monitor the female and fry clearly without disturbing them, and the wide design allows good water circulation through the box to keep conditions stable.
Once the female has given birth, she can be returned to the main tank and the fry can grow on safely in the box until they're large enough to be introduced to the main tank without risk. The box also catches waste and uneaten food, making cleanup straightforward. It folds flat for easy storage when not in use.

Anyone who's kept livebearers knows how quickly fry disappear in a community tank. A breeding box is the most practical solution for protecting fry without setting up a dedicated separate tank, and the in-tank design means you're not stressing the female by moving her to a completely different water environment right before she gives birth.
Rinse the breeding box in old tank water or dechlorinated water after each use. Clean the acrylic with a soft cloth to avoid scratching. Check the hanging mechanism periodically to ensure it's secure and the box is sitting at the correct water level.
