How the 3-in-1 Internal Filter Compares

⚙️ Dynamic Power 3-in-1 Internal Filter

  • 3️⃣
Three Functions in One: Combines mechanical and biological filtration, water circulation and additional aeration in a single submersible unit.
  • 🧽
Mechanical & Biological Filtration: The built-in biochemical sponge traps suspended debris while providing surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise.
  • 💨
Built-In Aeration: The included air tube draws air into the water flow, providing additional aeration without requiring a separate air pump and air stone.
  • 🌊
Active Water Circulation: Powered water flow helps circulate the aquarium water and reduce areas of stagnant movement.
  • 🔧
Replaceable Filter Sponge: The sponge can be removed for cleaning or replacement, allowing you to maintain the filtration media without replacing the entire filter.

⚪ Basic Internal Filter

  • 1️⃣
Primarily Filtration: A basic internal filter generally focuses on moving water through its filter media, without combining multiple functions into one unit.
  • 🧽
Filtration Media Only: The included media provides filtration, but the filter may not offer the same combination of mechanical and biological filtration in a single sponge.
  • 💨
Aeration May Need Separate Equipment: If the filter doesn't include air injection, additional aeration may require a separate air pump and air stone.
  • 🌊
Filtration Is the Main Function: Water movement is primarily generated to pass water through the filter rather than providing a dedicated three-function setup.
  • 🔧
Fewer Integrated Features: A basic design may require additional equipment or accessories when you want filtration, circulation and aeration together.

Why We Stock It

For aquarists who want the simplicity of an internal filter but need the output to handle a larger tank, the 1,600L/H is the natural choice. It covers tanks up to 400 litres without the complexity of an external canister setup, making it a good fit for larger community tanks, grow-out tanks, or setups where simplicity and ease of maintenance matter more than hiding equipment outside the tank.

Care & Maintenance

Rinse sponges in old tank water every 2 to 4 weeks depending on your fish load, never under tap water as chlorine will kill the beneficial bacteria living in the sponge. When sponges eventually need replacing, only replace one sponge at a time for a minimum of 2 weeks before swapping it in. 3 to 4 weeks is safer. This process is known as seeding, the beneficial bacteria from your tank water and existing sponge colonise the new sponge over time. Once colonised, swap the new sponge in and leave the second old sponge in place. Repeat the process when the second sponge needs replacing. This protects your nitrogen cycle and prevents an ammonia spike that could stress or harm your fish. Always disconnect from power before removing the unit from the tank.
