The filter and pump are separated by design, which contributes to the ultra-low power draw while maintaining solid flow through the media.
External canister filters work by drawing water from the tank through an inlet, forcing it through sealed, pressurised media baskets, then returning clean water through an outlet. Because the water is pressurised through every layer of media, filtration is far more thorough than hang-on-back or internal filters where water can bypass media. The canister sits outside the tank entirely, keeping your aquascape clean and uncluttered.
Suited to aquariums up to 250 litres, this model features four easy-access media baskets for a fully customisable filtration stack. A flow shut-off tap lets you stop water flow for maintenance without disconnecting hoses, adjustable flow control lets you fine-tune output to suit your livestock and plants, and quick-connect fittings make setup and post-clean restarts simple with no tools required. Built from compact PVC casing and SGS approved for long-term reliability in both freshwater and saltwater environments.
A maximum head height of 1.3 metres covers most standard aquarium setups where the canister sits below or beside the tank.

14 watts for 1,000L/H is genuinely efficient, and the separated filter and pump design is what makes that possible. For aquarists running a 100 to 250 litre tank who want proper external canister filtration without a heavy power draw, this is a strong option at an accessible price point.
As a general rule, clean your canister every 1 to 3 months depending on your fish load and how heavily planted your tank is. A good indicator is flow rate, when you notice it dropping, it's time for a clean. Always rinse sponges and biological media in a bucket of old tank water taken during a water change, never under tap water. Chlorine in tap water kills the beneficial bacteria living in your media, which can cause an ammonia spike and harm your fish.
