Why We Stock It

A rechargeable air pump is one of those pieces of equipment you don't always need, but when you do need one, having it ready can make a huge difference. We stock this model because it gives fishkeepers a simple way to provide temporary aeration without needing access to a power outlet. The dual outlets allow you to run two air stones at once, making it useful for everything from transporting fish and holding livestock during tank maintenance to providing backup aeration during a power outage.

The rechargeable battery is what makes this particularly useful as an emergency backup. Rather than relying on batteries that need to be replaced, you can keep the pump charged and ready to go in your fishkeeping or emergency equipment. With up to 20 hours of operation and USB charging from a laptop, wall charger, or power bank, it's also practical for longer trips and temporary holding setups.

It's a small piece of equipment that takes up very little room but can be incredibly useful when moving fish, performing aquarium maintenance, travelling, or dealing with an unexpected loss of power.

Care & Maintenance

Keep the air pump itself completely dry and away from splashing or standing water. The pump contains a rechargeable battery and electrical components, so do not submerge it or allow water to enter the unit. Position the pump somewhere dry and secure above the water level whenever possible, if having the pump above the waterline isnt possible please install a check valve on both airlines to prevent backflow.

Always create a drip loop in the airline and keep the pump positioned where water cannot run back towards the unit. Check the airline connections regularly for leaks, kinks, or blockages that could reduce airflow. If using two outlets, make sure both lines are clear and connected securely.

Keep the air intake and pump vents free from dust and debris, and wipe the exterior with a dry or slightly damp cloth when needed. Do not spray cleaning products directly onto the pump or allow moisture to enter the housing.

For the best battery life, recharge the pump after use rather than leaving the battery completely flat for extended periods. If you're keeping it as an emergency backup, check the charge periodically and recharge it before the battery becomes fully depleted. It's a good idea to test the pump occasionally so you know it's working when you actually need it.

If the pump becomes unusually hot, shows signs of swelling, damage, corrosion, or other electrical problems, discontinue use and do not continue charging it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the rechargeable air pump run for?

The built-in 1500mAh rechargeable battery provides up to 20 hours of operation. Actual runtime can vary depending on how the pump is being used, such as water depth and air resistance

Is this air pump suitable for power outages?

Yes. This pump is particularly useful as an emergency backup during power outages. If your main filter and air pump stop working, the rechargeable pump can provide temporary aeration to help maintain oxygen levels and water movement until power is restored. Keeping the pump fully charged means it is ready to use when you need it.

Can I use this air pump to transport fish?

Yes. It is ideal for providing continuous aeration when transporting fish over longer distances. Connect the pump to an air stone inside a suitable transport container to help maintain oxygen levels during the journey. This can be especially useful when picking up fish from another location or transporting fish between aquariums.

Can I use this pump during aquarium maintenance?

Yes. The rechargeable design makes it useful when fish need to be temporarily moved into a bucket, tub, or other holding container while performing aquarium maintenance or a major aquascape redesign. Running an air stone from the pump can help maintain oxygenation while the fish are temporarily housed outside their aquarium.

Can I run two air stones at the same time?

Yes. The pump has two independent air outlets, allowing you to run two air stones or other compatible aeration devices simultaneously. Each outlet provides up to 1.5L/min of air, giving a combined maximum output of up to 3L/min.

Can I use this as my main aquarium air pump?

It can provide aeration for temporary or portable setups, but it is primarily designed for situations where mains power is unavailable, such as fish transport, temporary holding, travel, maintenance, and emergencies. For permanent aquarium aeration, a mains-powered air pump is generally more practical.

How do I recharge the air pump?

The pump uses USB charging and can be recharged from a USB wall charger, laptop, power bank, or other compatible 5V USB power source. Charging it after each use and keeping it topped up is recommended if you intend to keep it available as an emergency backup.

Can I use this air pump in a marine aquarium?

Yes. The pump is suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums. It can be used wherever temporary aeration is required, including marine fish transport, quarantine setups, holding containers, and emergency situations.

Do I need a check valve with this pump?

Yes, a check valve is recommended when using the pump with an aquarium or any setup where the pump could be positioned below the waterline. A check valve helps prevent water from siphoning back through the airline and into the pump if it is switched off or loses power. The Pet Worx Check Valve 12 Pack is a convenient option for keeping spare check valves on hand.

How deep can I use this air pump?

The pump is recommended for water depths between 50 and 100cm. Deeper water creates greater pressure against the air outlet, which can reduce airflow. For best performance, use the pump within the recommended water depth range and ensure your airline and air stones are not blocked.

Is the pump suitable for emergency fishkeeping kits?

Yes. Its compact rechargeable design makes it an excellent item to keep in an aquarium emergency kit. Along with a fully charged pump, it is worth keeping spare airline, air stones, and a check valve ready to use so you can quickly provide aeration during a power outage, equipment failure, or unexpected fish transfer.
