A solid all-rounder for larger tanks that want the peace of mind of UV sterilisation alongside flexible multi-stage filtration. The three media baskets give you real control over your filtration setup, and the UV does the work that most filters at this size simply don't offer.
As a general rule, give your canister a clean out every 1 to 3 months, though how often you actually need to depends on how stocked your tank is, whether you have plants, and how much waste your fish produce. A good rule of thumb is to simply run it until you notice the flow starting to drop, then give it a thorough clean.
When cleaning, always rinse your sponges and biological media in a bucket of old tank water siphoned during a water change, never under tap water. Chlorine and chloramines in tap water can kill the beneficial bacteria living in your media, which can cause an ammonia spike and stress or harm your fish.
