Description:
Xtreme Spirulina Flakes are a nutritionally balanced, plant-based staple food designed to support the health, colour, and long-term wellbeing of a wide range of aquarium fish. With high levels of Spirulina algae, this formula is especially beneficial for herbivorous and omnivorous species, while still being readily accepted by most community fish.
Spirulina is widely recognised in aquaculture for its ability to support consistent growth, improved digestion, and stronger immune function. As a highly digestible ingredient, it allows fish to absorb more nutrients efficiently while helping to reduce waste output, contributing to better overall water quality.
This formula also contains natural colour-enhancing pigments, helping bring out brighter, more vibrant colours in ornamental fish. Additionally, the inclusion of stable Vitamin C and brewers yeast supports healthy fin, gill, and tissue development, making it a well-rounded option for everyday feeding.
Made using farm-grown Spirulina from the USA under strict quality controls, this food delivers reliable consistency and nutritional integrity. The flakes break apart easily in the water, allowing fish at different levels of the aquarium to feed naturally.
Xtreme Spirulina Flakes are particularly well suited to livebearers, African cichlids, silver dollars, rainbowfish, and other plant-grazing species, though they can be fed to most freshwater and marine fish as part of a balanced diet.
In our own fish room, foods from the Xtreme range have proven to be reliable staples, especially when used alongside higher protein foods to create a more balanced feeding routine.
As with many natural ingredients, the colour of the flakes may vary slightly depending on seasonal harvest conditions.
Suitable for regular daily feeding as part of a varied and balanced diet.
Diet & Compatibility:
Xtreme Spirulina Flakes are a plant-based staple food designed for herbivorous and omnivorous aquarium species, while still being suitable for most tropical community fish.
This formula is particularly beneficial for plant-grazing species such as livebearers, African cichlids, silver dollars, rainbowfish, and many algae-eating fish, helping support healthy digestion, consistent growth, and overall vitality.
Due to the high inclusion of spirulina algae, this food provides a rich source of natural nutrients, vitamins, and colour-enhancing pigments, helping fish maintain bright natural colouration and strong immune function.
For optimal nutrition and balance, this food pairs exceptionally well with higher protein foods such as Xtreme Community Crave Flakes and Xtreme Wrigglers®.
For a more complete feeding routine, you can also rotate in Xtreme NICE® Crumble and Xtreme NICE® Semi-Floating Pellets to provide a mix of particle sizes, feeding behaviours, and nutrient profiles.
Offering a varied diet helps mimic natural feeding behaviours and supports improved digestion, colour, and long-term fish health.

Feeding Guide:
Feed only what your fish can consume within 1-4 minutes, removing any uneaten food if necessary to maintain good water quality.
For most aquariums, feeding a small amount twice daily or a larger amount once per day is more than sufficient. Many fish benefit from lighter feeding schedules, as this allows time for proper digestion and helps reduce common issues such as constipation, bloating, and internal blockages.
In our own fish room, we often feed a larger amount every 2–3 days rather than daily. This approach helps keep fish active, improves digestion, and supports long-term health, especially in species prone to digestive issues.
For fast-growing juveniles or fry, smaller portions daily may need to be offered more frequently if required, provided water quality is closely monitored.
As with all foods, adjust feeding frequency and portion size based on your fish species, tank size and filtration.
